What Will the Upcoming AirPods 4 Generation Bring?
A completely new aspect is the simultaneous launch of two models from the same generation. The AirPods 4 will be released in two versions, with the main difference between them being the inclusion of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) in the top model. Both AirPods 4 models will feature a redesigned look, including USB-C ports instead of Lightning ports and shorter stems, similar to those on the AirPods Pro.
Additionally, they are expected to offer a better in-ear fit and improved audio quality. Another important aspect is the integration of an H2 chip, which promises faster and more reliable connectivity thanks to Bluetooth 5.3, as well as enhanced energy efficiency that could lead to longer battery life.
As previously mentioned, the top model of the new AirPods 4 will include the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature, which was previously available only on the more expensive variants. This model will also be more affordable than the AirPods Pro, which are priced at $249, but it will lack some premium features such as silicone ear tips. Another interesting feature of this model will be the presence of a speaker in the charging case, which can play a sound to help locate the earbuds using the Find My function.
What's Next for AirPods 2 and AirPods 3?
The new AirPods 4 generation, set to be launched in September or October 2024, will mark the end for the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 models. Available since 2, the AirPods 2019 have been an entry-level option, appreciated for their simplicity and affordable price, often under $90. However, they do not offer revolutionary features and are more basic wireless earbuds.
On the other hand, the AirPods 3, launched in 2021, brought notable improvements, including Spatial Audio, force sensors on the stems, and wireless charging compatible with the Apple Watch charger. These were marketed at a starting price of $179, while the AirPods 2 remained available at a reduced price of $129.

When Will the New AirPods Pro 3 Generation Be Launched?
The first generation of AirPods Pro was launched in the fall of 2019, followed by the second generation three years later, in the fall of 2022. It appears that this year’s only novelty will be the new AirPods 4 generation, while next year we can expect the launch of the third generation of wireless earbuds, the AirPods Pro 3.
Furthermore, in 2025, it is highly possible that Apple will consider launching new AirPods Max models, which will most likely feature many functions allowing interaction with artificial intelligence.
