iPad can be used for many productivity activities. Not infrequently, working with files also involves ZIP archives that we need to unzip or view/extract only certain files from their content.

How to unzip archives .zip, .gz, .tar in iCloud Drive from your iPad or iPhone
Being concerned about installing WordPress on a new web hosting account, I decided to do this operation for the first time from the iPad. Without the help of a cPanel module or other awesomeness, but simply by downloading the .zip archive of the latest version of WordPress on the iPad and uploading it to the web server via a FTP / SFTP applications for iPadOS.
1. We can download documents, archives, pictures or other types of files through Safari from the iPad. These files go automatically in the "Download" folder of iCloud.
In our script we took the .tar archive of WordPress.
2. After the archive is downloaded, open the utility application iCloud Drive where we locate the downloaded archive.
3. By simply tapping the archive, it will be unzipped in the current folder.
If the archive contains multiple files, the unzipping process will take some time, and sometimes we may think that the unzipping process is stuck. We are waiting for the extracted folder to be accessible.
In the scenario where we want to see what an archive contains without doing the complete unzipping and extracting only certain files, iPadOS allows us to do this.
How to see the contents of a .zip, .tar, .gz archive and how to extract certain files from the archive on the iPad
From what I've noticed, viewing and accessing files inside an archive is only available on iPadOS. On the iPhone, we can only unzip completely, as we showed in the tutorial above.
1. go to iCloud Drive on the iPad to the location where we have the archive and keep pressing on it until the command menu appears, in which we go to "Open in New Window".
2. In the window that opens we have information about the contents of the archive. Volume and number of files it contains. The "Preview Content" option helps us to see inside the archive.
3. We can browse the entire folder tree of the archive and extract only the files that interest us.
We use the sandwich menu to navigate the folders and files inside the archive, and the sharing menu
It is very important that you have the latest version of the iPad installed iPadOS so that everything goes smoothly.
