It is not known exactly for what reasons, but for 14 years tablet owners Apple they didn't have a Calculator app for iPad built into the operating system iPadOS, as it is on iOS devices and macOS.
Starting with version iPadOS 18 Apple has introduced its own "Calculator" application on the iPad, with many interesting features and functions, which makes it a helpful utility in education or in jobs where advanced mathematical calculations are needed.
