As expected, Apple is increasingly deploying OpenAI's AI services on its devices. So, the latest beta update brings iPhone users the ability to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus in iOS 18.2 settings.
Apple recently released the second beta version of iOS 18.2, and one of the new features is ChatGPT integration. The update brings advanced integration of ChatGPT into Siri and AI-powered authoring tools. Another feature added in this beta is the ability to upgrade to a ChatGPT Plus account directly from the Settings app. I don't think anyone is surprised by this option, given that the virtual assistant Siri will have a lot of support from ChatGPT on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.
ChatGPT is a new feature from Apple Intelligence for iOS 18.2, available on iPhone, iPad and Mac. This allows the OpenAI assistant to be used as an alternative to Siri and complements the already existing authoring tools provided by Apple.

ChatGPT Plus integration in iOS 18.2 settings
Upon announcing the partnership with OpenAI for ChatGPT, reports circulated that there was no financial transaction between the companies. However, the ability to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus in iOS 18.2 settings demonstrates the clear advantages for both parties.
In the new OS 18.2 beta, users can go to Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri → ChatGPT, where they will find the option “Upgrade to ChatGPT Plus.”

Is a ChatGPT Plus account required for integration on iOS 18?
ChatGPT integration in iOS 18.2 does not require an OpenAI account or subscription, but a paid account provides additional functionality. Users can sign in with both a free account, to sync their ChatGPT activity with OpenAI data, and a premium account for additional benefits, just like in the native ChatGPT app.
As we said before, this possibility to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus in the iOS settings, it seems, will bring financial advantages to both OpenAi and Apple. It's hard to believe that Apple will not charge OpenAI a fee for each ChatGPT Plus subscription made via iOS. Or maybe it's an understanding between the two companies, regarding permission to integrate OpenAI services on devices Apple.
