Although Microsoft is currently the leading company in integrating AI into Office applications, signs are emerging that in the future, Apple will integrate artificial intelligence into iWork. At least that's what recent domain acquisitions by Apple suggest.

Apple holds hundreds of domains, but now it has added "iWork.ai" to its portfolio, which could indicate an intention to integrate artificial intelligence into its iWork suite of applications. Specifically, this refers to the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote applications, counterparts to Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office's Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications. The name "iWork" has been used by Apple since the time when the three applications were sold as a package, similar to iLife, which included the iMovie and GarageBand applications.

Now, according to BuyAIdomains.com, it seems that Apple wants to take a revolutionary and bold step, aiming to relaunch the iWork suite with artificial intelligence support. This could make it a competitor to Microsoft Office and Google Docs.

Of course, purchasing the iWork.AI domain name does not guarantee that Apple will integrate artificial intelligence into iWork. They may buy the domain just to prevent other companies or individuals from doing so. Furthermore, Apple owns hundreds of domains, including some that can be accessed due to typing errors (typos). An example is the "zpple.com" domain, which redirects users to apple.com.

Is it certain that Apple will integrate artificial intelligence into iWork?

Since 2011, DomainGang has counted 543 different web domains owned by Apple. Over the years, there could be hundreds more - and significantly, owning a domain name does not necessarily mean having a website there.

Therefore, it's possible that iWork.ai is a clear sign that Apple will integrate artificial intelligence into iWork. However, if so, Apple might also acquire the Pages.ai, Numbers.ai, Keynote.ai, and perhaps iCloud.ai domains.

Due to how websites are registered, it's often impossible to definitively determine which companies own a domain - especially in Apple's case, which could use intermediary firms. Currently, iCloud.ai and Keynote.ai are registered with companies in California, Pages.ai with one in Rockford, Illinois, and Numbers.ai with one in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Moreover, Numbers.ai is listed as available for sale, which is unlikely for Apple to do.

Most reports estimating that Apple will significantly adopt AI at WWDC 2024 expect the company to do so with its operating systems, especially iOS, rather than with applications like iWork.

I am happy to share my experiences in the field of computers, mobile phones and operating systems, to develop web projects and to bring the most useful tutorials and advice. I like to "play" on the iPhone, MacBook Pro, iPad, AirPort Extreme and on operating systems macOS, iOS, Android and Windows.
