Update:

Mac computers, including MacBook laptops, are considered to be the most stable and reliable devices in the long run. However, over time, Apple has launched recall programs where you can exchange your MacBook battery or other components that were released with manufacturing defects for free.

In a previous article I wrote about my experience with a MacBook with a swollen battery and a deformed case that ended up in an authorized service Apple after less than three years of use. I had no luck with the free battery change, but the butterfly keyboard and bottom cover were changed for free, the latter being affected by battery swelling MacBook Pro.

Under what conditions can you change the MacBook battery for free?

First, the MacBook battery can be replaced free of charge during the device's warranty period if it stops charging properly, if the power level drops suddenly and inexplicably, or if it swells.

However, as I said at the beginning, Apple also runs recall programs for out-of-warranty components, including MacBook batteries.

Currently (February 2024), if you have a device MacBook Pro 15-inch purchased between September 2015 and February 2017, you can take it to an authorized service center Apple to request free battery replacement. Battery overheating has been reported for these devices, with an increased risk of fire.

To check if you can change your MacBook battery for free, go to: 15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall Program. Enter your device's serial number to check if it's eligible for this program.

After you enter the serial number, you find out if you can change the battery for free MacBook Pro through this program.

For other MacBook models or other devices Apple, check it out: Apple Service Programs.

Service recall programs are intended for products only Apple.

I am happy to share my experiences in the field of computers, mobile phones and operating systems, to develop web projects and to bring the most useful tutorials and advice. I like to "play" on the iPhone, MacBook Pro, iPad, AirPort Extreme and on operating systems macOS, iOS, Android and Windows.
